Dr. Christopher L. Topping, Founder, Chief Executive Officer, Principal Scientific Advisor of Space GeneriX Ltd and the Chief Technical Officer of Kypros Satellites. Christopher is a telecommunications and spacecraft systems engineer with over 15 years industrial experience and has earned his PhD in Signal Processing from the Electrical Engineering Department of Imperial College London in 2001. Dr. Topping subsequently worked for European Defense & Space Corporation (EADS Astrium) in the satellites communications division as Senior Specialist Engineer for Telecommunications digital processors, as well as Science and Radar payloads. In 2009 Dr. Topping became the Product Line Manager for Telecommunications Digital Processors across all European branches of EADS Astrium. Dr. Topping among other responsibilities was leading the advanced R&D activities within the Digital Payload Processors Systems Group at Astrium UK, and has been involved in over 50 research programs in participation with the European Space Agency (ESA), DLR, CNES, EU FP7 and numerous other research institutions and leading satellite equipment manufacturers. He has also been involved in many equipment developments ranging from civil/military telecommunications equipment design, wireless systems and air-interface standards design, RF based remote sensing, Earth observation and ground Radar systems, Antenna array developments, high reliability equipment design for space and harsh environments etc. Since 2010 Dr. Topping has been working as Chief Technical Officer for Kypros Satellites Ltd., a satellite communications provider. As CTO Dr. Topping promotes the R&D track of the company with emphasis on the development of disruptive technologies for the next generation satellite telecommunications equipments, and plays an integral role in the company’s strategic direction, development and future growth of the business. In recent years, Dr. Topping has also worked as Research Fellow at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Cyprus. In this role, Dr. Topping has worked on two European Defense Agency (EDA) contracts with responsibilities of designing and implementing the modem for a long range aeronautical communications link, as well as antenna and digital beamformer design for a covert passive radar system for military applications. Dr. Topping has a wide range of interests in Radar, Remote Sensing, Wireless communications and Robust distributed computing solutions, with a number of publications across these topics. Dr. Topping is also a certificated Chartered Director from the Institute of Directors, UK. |
